We are looking for stewards and general volunteers willing to help to make this years event happen! The London Green Fair, in creative and engaging ways, promotes sustainable products, campaigns, and lifestyle choices available in an urban environment. The entire event is powered using specially designed solar, wind and hydrogen fuel cells. We aspire to putting on a zero waste event and a huge proportion of the organic waste and dry recyclables generated at the event is collected and recycled.
This opportunity provides fantastic experience at the heart of London's grooviest and greenest festival! Our volunteers will have a chance to be a part of a great team, meet like-minded people and have a fun filled day while helping Londoners to make their city greener. This role offers the experience of working with a leading environmental charity and the opportunity to take part in the production of one of London's major free public events. The volunteers are crucial to the success of the Fair and we reward them with goody bags, lunch packs and we cover travel expenses if required.
General volunteers are needed both before the event and on the day. They include all those who are positioned in a particular zone of the Fair (perhaps on a stage, in the Transport Zone or at one of our info points), working with the recycling and litter team, working on monitoring and feedback from visitors or getting involved in set up and take down. The work is always fun and varied. Stewards are representatives of the London Green Fair, and our Volunteers receive special training, which is transferable to other events.
The stewards' duties will involve:
- helping people find their way to various facilities and locations
- helping lost children (and parents!)
- managing crowd flow
- keeping an eye out for potential problems
Stewarding is also a lot of fun; you get to meet loads of interesting people, make new friends and help a great event to be a great success. Volunteer stewards will be working alongside a professional stewarding team, and in pairs. They will be managed by the Head steward as part of the stewarding team for the Fair.
Volunteers will be signing up for one four-hour shift - morning, afternoon or evening - and we will try and accommodate any preference you have for type of work. Please specify which day you would like to work - remember our event is now running for 2 fun-packed days.
