The London Green Fair, 9th & 10th June 2012 - Regent's Park - FREE

Global-local Stage

The first of our festival stages has some fantastic music programmed across both days. It's a vibrant festival mix, guaranteed to get you jumping. See below for what we have planned.

Perhaps Contraption at the London Green Fair

Perhaps Contraption

Perhaps Contraption is an astonishing, twisted brass, art punk marching band. The band has paraded all over prestigious events such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Lovebox, The Last Tuesday Society, Burning Man, Wilderness and The Secret Garden Party.

Anywhere and everywhere they have bellowed massive choral harmonies and enchanted audiences with their jubilant, soaring horns. An incredible acoustic and theatrical tour de force; the show touches upon the joyous and irreverent, the dark and piquant, the oom-pah and the sublime.

City Shanty Band at the London Green Fair

City Shanty Band

Ahoy! We are the City Shanty Band an 11-member shanty band, singing a mix of original compositions and traditional sea shanties with an urban twist. Jesus! Urban twist is a horrible way of describing anything. Basically, we change the lyrics a bit to make them relevant and sh*t, yeah?

Zong Zing at the London Green Fair

Zong Zing

Zong Zing is bringing the authentic sounds of the London-African underground to the mainstream. The 9-piece band plays dynamic dance music called 'Cavacha', the core rhythm of Central African music, which originates across the Congo, Camaroon and Ivory Coast.

‘Cavacha’ is a highly danceable music characterised by intricate guitar picking from three guitarists, soaring vocal harmonies and driving percussion. The rhythmic style is arguably one of the most infectiously danceable forms of music in the world.

Bard at the London Green Fair

BARD

Old folk hits a new groove as three troubadours collide in a rich harmony, with songs that speak and voices that ring.

Theo: raised on music from the mists of time.

Louisa: born in a puddle of whiskey under the full moon, a stargazer by trade and a rascal.

Ewan: jack of hearts, and a magician, he and his clarinet are the spring in your step, the spirit in your drink, and the punch line of every joke.

The Great Malarkey at the London Green Fair

The Great Malarkey

Playing a mix of gypsy, punk, ska and dark cabaret, on stage, there is no weaving of strange tales: every song has been written by you, for you, or about you. This is a raw documentation of friends, lovers, riots, night terrors and the Dalston job centre. These are the kids you didn’t mess with on the playground, and you wouldn’t mess with them now: an instrumental call to arms with lyrics that simultaneously sling an arm around your shoulders and punch you in the stomach.
